The Golf Club Committee recommends that all golf club members have adequate insurance to cover them for incidents on the golf course. The committee are currently studying an SGU special bulletin regarding this issue. Please see:- http://scottishgolf-info
Ladies, Gentlemen and Junior Members of Letham Grange Golf Club,
I wanted to provide you with a brief update on recent and forthcoming events. You may have already heard, that the long running legal case centred on Letham Grange took, what could prove to be, a significant step forward, when the Court of Session appeal Judges released their judgement in favour of the Liquidator, Mathew Henderson. Although Mr Liu has upto three months to appeal this latest decision, the requirement for such an appeal to have the support of two Senior Legal Counsels is thought to be remote.
So by the second half of the year, the liquidator may be free of restriction to complete the assigned task of securing the best deal for the creditors of Letham Grange Development Company Ltd. For those of you who are interested in such things, you can read the 36 page ruling on the Court of Session website at the following web address,
From the perspective of the Golf Club, it is very much business as usual, we secured the licence to operate the courses for the third year, prior to the AGM held on the 5th February, this will see us managing the golf business through to the end of February 2014.We have been in touch with Peter Ford and agreed to meet up in the Summer when the legal case is cleared away and we can discuss the future for golf at Letham Grange, and will keep you updated as things progress.
In the shorter term, on the 29th March, we will revert back to having two courses available for play, with the opening of the Old Course. The Greens Keeping team have performed a huge amount of work to improve the drainage and playability on both courses, they have built a small loch to store flood water from the Farms and Brothock, laid drains to address localised flooding, laid buggy paths on holes where their use has caused damage in past years, raised the canopy level of the trees lining the holes, and although there is still some work outstanding, they are confident that they will have both courses ready.
I would also like to inform you that Sandra Youngson has agreed to take on the Captain’s role of the Ladies section, whilst thanking Helen Kelly for all her good work in the past two years. The Golf Operations team will be updating you in the weeks to come to provide details of both the 4Ball OPEN, Saturday 20th April and the Captain’s Drive-In, Sunday 21st April. Lastly a big welcome to the dozens of new members who have joined us recently and also a gentle reminder that the membership fees were due to be paid on 1st March, so for those of you that have not yet done so, I would appreciate your continued support by paying your fees as soon as practicable, the Golf Desk will be fully manned from now on as we finalise preparations for the new golfing season.
